Le Bananas Tour

Scheveningen (Netherlands)

june, 19 and 20

The dutch surf spot Scheveningen was the last stop of the Oxbow Totally Bananas Tour for our Hawaiian team members. Unfortunately, last week-end’s weather conditions didn’t enable lots of action for our windsurfers….
Nevertheless, Jason Polakow and Levi Siver supported Rico Leroy as co-judges during the shortboard and longboard competition that launched the opening of this final Oxbow Waterman Challenge.

Under pouring rain, Kai Lenny rode 1m on shore waves on his SUP, just before showing his great Kitesurfing skills.

After the session, Jason, Kai and Levi met their dutch fans at the core shop in Scheveningen for the long awaited signing session. After this special moment, they joined the opening celebration of the new Oxbow shop located in the legendary surf camp F.A.S.T (seafront of Scheveningen).

The Totally Bananas party started in the same colourful location with a skate show, a giant BBQ as well as the movie premiere of “The Oxbow Waterman Experience”.
This crazy celebration gathered around 700 people from Amsterdam, Leiden, Den Haag and Scheveningen who rocked to the sound of the Dukes”.

On Sunday, Kai and Rico were both part of the jury for the final shortboard and longboard competition. This week-end’s winner is Thomas De Jong who was offered a flight to Hawaii. Michiel Six placed first during the groms competition and won a one-year sponsorship with Oxbow.

Local riders such as the windsurfer Maarten van Ochten and the kitesurfer Lex Dekker were also present and showed their skills to the international audience. At the end of the day, every participant gathered and shared a last SUP session with Kai Lenny so as to support the “Soul Surfers Foundation” that collects funds for socially deprived children. After this day, the Foundation was offered 800 EUR in order to share their surf passion with children that haven’t had the chance yet to do so.
